Healing with a Trauma Therapist in Nashville, TN
You have a hunch that the way you operate isn’t actually who you are. Somewhere along the way, you lost you.
Diagnoses like depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD and any other mental illness don’t quite describe the hole you’re in. The more you analyze and read, the worse you feel. No one truly gets it and the loneliness is suffocating.
You know your childhood wasn’t great, but dwelling on the past never solved anything.
Every now and then you get a glimpse of you and there's hope. Intuitively, you know there’s more to this life and you want to be present for the beautiful things around you. But, there’s a fog holding you back.
How Trauma Counseling Can Help Overcome the Past
The problem isn’t the trauma of the past - it’s the impact of that trauma on the present. You need a road back to you like you need air. If you could feel secure within yourself - you would find that your natural bent is to take delight in the little things, to love and be loved.
You are meant for the joys of this world.
Your protective strategies (the ones that kept you alive in the worst times) aren’t working for you anymore. What are they and how do you tell your whole body that you’re safe now? Or that you can drop your guard when you need to? To find those answers, we have a specific method.
It’s a journey that our trauma therapists are honored to go on with you.
All our therapists in Nashville are trained in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), which is targeted to help with trauma.
This model helps you learn how to tune into you. Once you can do that, a whole world opens up! You’re able to make choices with confidence. You can assert yourself with a new ability to be soft and strong at the same time. No more disappearing into your protection. It’s time to show up and shine!
When people come to our office, they show up with a host of different issues.
Here’s a list of the most common ones we see:
Feeling overwhelmed by daily life
Irritable at loved ones (and feeling guilty because of it)
Traumatic memories and intrusive thoughts
Trouble sleeping
Paranoia
Debilitating anxiety
Going through the motions/feeling numb
Hard time trusting others, withdrawing from those you love
Chronic health issues
History of addiction (or struggling with current substance use)
Hard time focusing
EFIT can be incredibly effective while working with trauma. How do we know? Our clients tell us!
As a team of trained trauma therapists, we’re truly passionate about our clients' experience to feel the world in a different way. This isn’t about tiny surface level changes, but about having a total shift in your life.

Our Trauma Therapists in Nashville Are Ready and Waiting
If you’ve been to other types of therapy and you’re hesitant to start with someone new or try a new method, you’re in the right place. We’ve tested this out personally! Some of our therapists have been to EFIT therapy themselves. Read about one person’s experience here:
“As an EFIT therapist myself, I wanted to experience what my clients were raving about. I’ve received other types of therapy - but never EFIT. I decided to take a seat in the client’s chair and see for myself.
I was shocked that in the beginning I really wanted to rush the process. My therapist was gently showing me that we needed to pace ourselves and that there’s no quick magic fix. I was humbled by this - and understood my clients’ urgency in a new way.
Once I settled in and was more comfortable with the pacing, I learned to let my therapist lead more. Admittedly, in the beginning I tried to lead the sessions. I wanted to list all the examples of all the problems. My therapist was so patient with me. She really listened to me, but was also diligent in helping me tune into something deeper.
I have to say I cried way more than I wanted to. I don’t think crying is a pre-requisite for this therapy, but my therapist just had this way of helping me tap into some deep grief. I thought I would be unpacking fear - but it was actually just sadness. I wrote this in my journal after one session:
“I grieved for all the years of tears not cried. And it felt like love.”
Something about this unlocked a part of me. I started to be able to slow down in my real life (not just in sessions). This helped me gain more awareness of myself. I used to push my feelings aside in order to move on to the next thing. The awareness and ability to make choices from that place has really changed the way I feel. I don’t feel as overwhelmed. Now, if I get triggered, I don’t just automatically react like I used to. Or if I do, I can pivot pretty quickly and make my way back to a grounded place. I have more space for me.”
